The ongoing legal battle of Andrew Tate, a polarizing social media influencer, has faced yet another setback as his latest appeal for early release from custody was denied by a Romanian judge. This marks the fifth time that Tate’s plea for release has been turned down, indicating that he will remain in custody at least until March 29th.
Andrew Tate and his brother, Tristan Tate, were taken into custody by Romanian authorities towards the end of 2022 on allegations of human trafficking, rape, and establishing an organized crime syndicate. As a result, their compound, vehicles, and other assets were confiscated, and two women were also apprehended in connection with the case.
Despite their continued efforts to secure an early release, the Tate brothers have been held in detention as the investigation led by DIICOT progresses. Their most recent appeal, filed on February 27, was also dismissed. Rumours circulated that Andrew was experiencing health issues, but he refuted claims of being “rushed” to the hospital.
On March 14, Andrew Tate’s latest appeal was heard and subsequently denied by the court. According to the Romanian news outlet Libertatea, the judge stated, “The court rejects the request to replace the measure of preventive arrest with the measure of judicial control on bail formulated by the defendant TEA as inadmissible in principle. With the right of appeal within 48 hours of communication.”
Sky News has verified that Tate’s legal team will once again contest the ruling.
With the rejection of Andrew’s appeal, it appears increasingly likely that Tristan’s appeal, scheduled for March 15, will face a similar fate, resulting in both brothers remaining in custody until the end of the month.
