The beloved one-eyed pug of YouTube star PewDiePie, Maya, has sadly passed away at the ripe old age of 17.
PewDiePie’s two beloved pugs are virtually famous in their own right, often heard yapping away during his videos. Chances are excellent that most of the PewDiePie fanbase will be familiar with these furry friends!
Over the years, their beloved owner has featured Maya and Edgar in several videos; fans have even gone the extra mile to create music that pays homage to these two furry friends.
This year, the famous YouTuber uncovered that his beloved pug Maya is battling dementia and an unfortunate medical condition which caused her to lose one of her eyes.
Sadly, today – December 18th – PewDiePie and his wife Marzia revealed on Instagram that their beloved Maya has passed away after 17 years.
“Said farewell to my little Maya this morning,” PewDiePie wrote. “17 years is a long time for a pug, but no time in the world would’ve ever been enough.”
He added: “I didn’t think I could love a dog as much as I loved her.
“Thank you for all the wonderful time we got to spend with you. Thank you for always making my days brighter. Thank you for bringing me closer to Marzia. I will miss you so much and I already do.. you will always be in my heart Maya.”
“My sweetest little potato, thank you for spending so many wonderful years with me and being the best companion I could have ever asked for,” said Marzia.
“You filled my life with joy, love, and memories I’ll always treasure. You will forever be in my heart, and I miss you so much already. I love you Puga-chan.”
Fellow creators and fans have left heartfelt messages, with many reminiscing fondly over the years they shared with Maya.
